Climate-Smart

Work that contributes to or promotes climate change mitigation and/or adaptation and resilience.

Examples of climate-smart-themed investments are low carbon-emitting and use renewable energy, power, or gas transmission that brings higher efficiency to energy markets and power distribution projects with significant potential for emission reduction. Other climate-themed investments include metro, passenger rail, and bus rapid transport systems, water resource efficiency in water production and/or supply and sanitation, which address water scarcity, security, flood management and other aspects of climate resilience.

Connectivity & Integration

Work that facilitates or enhances physical or technological connectivity, promotes efficient commerce across markets, improves the movement and access of people, goods, and services, and deepens regional integration.

Such projects link communities, economies, and nations through transport, trade, communications, energy, water networks, and other means within and across countries, and support or enhance such connectivity as in the case of urbanization infrastructure projects. Examples include electricity and natural gas transmission; freight and passenger rail networks; ports and inland terminals; telecommunication (ICT) networks; airports; and cross-border roads and other road networks.
